Frequently-asked questions

What are your qualifications?
Certified as a Parent Coach through the Center for the Challenging Child, LLC in Roseville MN.
Engaged couple facilitator for over 5 years.
Volunteered at Minneapolis Children's Hospital.
Volunteered at the Melrose Clinic, where I was educated on eating disorders and how to communicate with patients.
I am the mother of three amazing adults.

How long will this process take?
Most parents need about three one hour meetings with me.  The first meeting will take a little longer.  You will see positive results as soon as you start applying the methods I teach you.

I'm so busy, does it take a lot of my time?
Yes, and the time is well spent.  You and your family will be learning new ways to enjoy and respect each other.

Do you work with my children at all?
I work with and help parents so that you, as parents, can work effectively with your children.

Do I come to your office or home?
Usually I will come to your home when the children are not home (or napping). If for some reason your home is not an option, we can agree to meet some place else. We can talk via phone, Skype, or in person.

Do you need to see both parents?
The ideal situation is to have both parents at meetings but if that is not possible, meeting with one parent is fine.

What about sibiling involvement?
Usually it is one child who is the challenge but all members of the family (no matter what age) will work together and benefit.

Can you help even if my child is on medication?
Most intense children are on medication.  My coaching (and your work) will most likely help with many of the reasons your child is on the medication.

Is it OK to call you with questions or concerns?
In between our coaching sessions please fell free to call any time.

Can you help with adult children?
This is my most asked question.  Yes, you would be amazed.

Should I advise teachers and care givers?
It's always a good idea to let them know when there is a significant change taking place in the home.

How much will this cost me?
I will be happy to do a free consultation, and can work on a sliding scale. I will never turn any parent away (that is in need of my help) for financial reasons.
